About the book – The War Within
The War Within is a book, based on a true story, set against the turmoil of the Spanish Civil War. The novel explores a country divided by ideology, religion, class and politics, a story of ordinary people confronting extraordinary circumstances, where friendships are tested and loyalties are divided.
During the walking tour, Ken reads selected passages from the book at locations connected with its historical setting, allowing visitors to imagine the streets and buildings as they might have appeared during those turbulent years.
The tour takes in ten carefully selected locations, beginning in the lower town, following the coast and eventually climbing through Altea's historic streets to the old town.
